Stock Market Review


Finally, the BSE Sensex surged 227.49 points or 1.19% to settle at 19406.85, while the CNX Nifty climbed by 79.40 points or 1.36% to end at 5,916.30.

The BSE Sensex touched a high and a low of 19434.85 and 19192.11, respectively. The BSE Mid cap index up by 0.50% and Small cap index was up by 0.09%.

The top gainers on the Sensex were, Dr Reddys Lab up by 4.72%, Gail India up by 4.25%, Tata Motors up by 4.21%, NTPC up by 4.06% and Maruti Suzuki up by 3.50%, while Wipro down by 2.20%, TCS down 1.92%, Infosys down 1.55%, Hindustan Unilever down 0.34% and ONGC down by 0.09% were the top losers on the index.


The CNX Nifty touched a high and a low of 5,924.60 and 5,853.30 respectively.

The top gainers on the Nifty were HDFC up by 5.64%, NTPC up 4.29%, Dr Reddy up 4.23%, Tata Motors up 3.91% and Hero MotoCorp up by 3.90%.

On the flip side, the top losers of the index were, HCL Tech down by 2.29%, TCS down by 2.07%, DLF down by 1.98%, JP Associates down 1.72% and Infosys down by 1.29%.

Gold is slightly on upside, last price was 26680. Seems to move for 27300 level. Gold in London, which normally set price trend on the domestic front, rose by 1.1 per cent to USD 1,448.28 an ounce.
After completing four days of gains, gold prices spurted here by Rs 400 today to regain the psychological level of Rs 28,000 per ten grams on sustained seasonal buying amid a firming global demand trend.

Silver also recovered by Rs 500 to Rs 45,500 per kg on increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers.

LME - Copper Updates with MCX Copper Trend

Copper Updates London copper slipped on Wednesday, partially reversing gains of more than 1 percent in the prior session, as anti-austerity protests in Spain revived concerns over the euro zone debt crisis and the demand outlook for industrial metals. The protests in Spain, where the government is likely to set a fresh timetable for economic reforms later this week, highlight the country's financing challenges and stirred doubts among investors about whether it would have the political will to apply for an official bailout. Three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange was down 0.8 percent at $8,210.50 per tonne by 0705 GMT, after rising 1.1 percent in the previous session. In MCX Commodity expert feel copper, Rs 440 per kilogram is holding over the last couple of trading days despite the negative fundamentals. He believes that on the upside, the resistance near Rs 446 per kilogram remains strong.
